Visit Topeka issued a press release prior to the first 2015 WT qualifying event in Topeka on Saturday, May 31st. The Topeka Capital Journal staff writer Phil Anderson came to the courts at about the end of the morning session and put together this article which was published in the Sunday edition of the Capital Journal.
The results of the Summer open #1 are now posted. There were 42 entries in this event which broke down into seven very competitive six-person classes. One of those entries was Charlsie (Bahret) Studley. Charlsie has been on the sideline since 2009 when she was in the Girls div. She has since married and has three boys. Her first tournament back she pulled off a 1st place finish with 33.5 ringer average.
The high over average pitcher for tournament was Laura Sullivan who is a first year member of the KHA. She entered this tournament with a 3.33% ringer average in the Topeka sanctioned league and pitched 6.67 percentage points over her entry average on her way to a 1st place finish in Class G. Other over average performances were turned in by Tom Routh, Robert Knabe, Michael Morgan, Michael Grandpre, Don Walrod, Sam Bahret, Kent Schaben, Allen Renner, Ivan Barnett and Don Lake.
The 11th Annual X-roads classic will be happening in Belleville both days this week end. If you have signed up for this event you should be getting word on your pitching times this week. If you are not signed up and would like to get in (although the deadline for entry has passed) give Howard a call at 785-527-5920. I am sure he will be able to find a spot for you.
